What makes Crown Bridal unique?

My vision for Crown Bridal is ever changing. The single constant is ….intimacy. I know with engaged brides to be, emotions run high, childhood hopes and dreams become a reality and the journey should be something very special. We understand there are no two brides alike and our inventory reflects the constant demand for this versatility. We cater to all budgets and timelines, providing professional seasoned experienced curators specializing in design, creativity and vast knowledge of our designers collections. We take pride in the impact we make in our community and look forward to sharing this experience with  everyone who enters our doors. The bridal industry is an amazing roller coaster of a ride and I couldn’t imagine my life outside of it now. It is truly the most full-filling and rewarding experience anyone could be so blessed to do for a living.

My favorite part of working in this industry is having the opportunity to meet and work with brides and their families. I enjoy exploring all avenues of what makes brides feel beautiful, confident, and empowered on their wedding day! I am always intrigued by their vision and wedding day dreams.

What advice would you give to engaged brides when searching for their “Dream Dress”?

Breathe. Take your time. Find that place that listens and that you connect with. A place that’s not going to focus on the purchase of the gown or the deadlines of the event but rather you and your vision. It should be fun, and it should be exciting, and it should be a journey that from beginning to end is enjoyable. And if it becomes anything but that, then it’s time to step back and re-evaluate when and where you lost sight of that goal. Just take your time and make sure you’re making the right decisions. 9 times out of 10 that gown isn’t going anywhere, despite what some will tell you. Just breathe.

In your opinion, what sets Crown Bridal apart from its competitors?

A lot, actually! First, at Crown Bridal, the bride gets to shop the store and select dresses to try on for herself. As her stylist, I'm here to help, but I'm not the only one who can pull dresses for her. Next, I appreciate that bridal appointments at Crown Bridal are 2.5 hours long, so that the bride has a full experience with time to try on several gowns and consider her options. These things ensure that each bride has the best chance to find her perfect dress during her appointment. Finally, Kynda has worked hard to make sure that Crown Bridal's selection of dresses covers every price point and features designers that other local stores don't carry, along with vintage gowns that are absolutely one-of-a-kind.

What do you enjoy most about working at Crown Bridal?

I really enjoy the challenge of listening to a bride describe what she's hoping to find and then helping her select several dresses that meet her criteria. During the appointment, a relationship with the bride grows as I watch her reaction to the different dresses and learn more about her. When the bride finds her perfect dress, she lights up inside and her face glows with a huge smile. Being part of that special moment in her life is very gratifying!

What drew you to work at a bridal salon?

I was a high school history teacher for over 20 years, but I've loved everything to do with weddings since I was a little girl and watched a President's daughter get married at the White House. In my opinion, the best or most important part of a wedding is the bride's dress, so working at a bridal salon--in the beautiful and historic Artillery Building at Ft. Vancouver--is a perfect match. My own wedding day was one of the best of my life, so I want to do everything I can to make sure other women have that experience.

What do you do when you aren't at Crown Bridal?

When I'm not at the salon, I love to spend time with my adult kids and three grandchildren--who all live nearby. We love watching football games together, with fan gear and plenty of appetizing food as part of the experience. I also spend a lot of time reading detective stories (Louise Penny and Robert Galbraith are some favorite authors) and keep busy with DIY design projects around the house.

What is your advice to brides coming in for an appointment?

Come in with an open mind and be ready to have fun! It takes some work to try on 10-12 wedding gowns, but don't be discouraged. Bring a few of your closest family members or friends--but not more than 5 or 6. Don't hesitate to give your stylist lots of honest feedback; it REALLY helps us to know exactly what you like and don't like about the dress you are wearing. Try to let go of your body insecurities (we ALL have them) because we are going to help you find dresses that will make you look and feel your most beautiful....and hopefully, you'll say YES to your perfect dress!

Crown Bridal offers a genuine, warm experience tailored to each bride. Our team works seamlessly together, and truly cares about each bride. What do you enjoy most about working at Crown Bridal?

What I enjoy most about working at Crown Bridal is getting to connect one-on one with brides to truly understand their full vision, style, and story. Watching the moment she lights up as it all aligns is the most rewarding part of what I do.

What do you enjoy most about working at Crown Bridal?

Of course, I love being around beautiful dresses all day, but what I really enjoy is the brides I get to connect with and assist in one of the most important parts of their lives. Each one of them is so unique. When they put on their dress and you see how they connect with it. You see how beautiful they feel, nothing beats that. I love hearing all the beautiful love stories, and learning all the details the couple is putting together to make their wedding complete.

What separates us from the competitors?

What I believe separates us from our competitors is the time we take to get to know our brides. We connect with them through the interview, tour, and bonding with the bride and their family. I also feel that all the owners and stylists truly always strive to learn more about the industry and come up with creative ways to help the bride make her day perfect.

What do you like to do in your free time?

When I'm not at work, I enjoy being creative with sewing, drawing, painting, and dancing. I really enjoy being outdoors hiking the trails in the Gorge, and paddleboarding in the summer. I love animals, especially my two cats, Chanel and Baboo.

Why did you want to work in bridal?

I knew I wanted to work in bridal in my final semester at Portland Fashion Institute. I loved how this part of the fashion industry is so personal and something that lasts forever. It combines the two things I love: working with people and working with all the elements of fashion. I love creating everlasting moments in people's lives with the most important piece in their closet that they will ever wear.

What inspires you everyday?

Everyday I'm inspired by the people I work with. It's great to work in an environment where everyone is passionate about their job. I am inspired by the gorgeous area we work in with the historical buildings. Music inspires me, especially when I get to dance. What inspires me the most is all the new people I meet. They inspire me with their jobs, kindness, and passion for the things they care about.
